Tatum Kline, Music Therapist - Board Certified
Tatum has been practicing as a board certified music therapist since May of 2020. She grew up in Western Wisconsin and is delighted to have the opportunity to bring music therapy services to an area that was instrumental in her journey to music therapy.
Tatum attended Augsburg University where she completed a Bachelor of Science in Music Therapy and a minor in Psychology. She interned with Allina Home Health and Hospice, working with adults in hospice care, to complete her required 1,200 hours of clinical training. Tatum also had the opportunity to participate in Augsburg’s Chunmaio Pediatric Burn Camp in Chongqing, China where she worked with children and teens who experienced burns. As part of this experience, Tatum worked alongside music therapists from China, Taiwan, and the United States. She has worked in a variety of settings that provided her with clinical and administrative skills, from working as a substitute preschool teacher to serving as an Activity Director in memory care, assisted living, and post-acute care in Lakewood, Colorado.
Tatum has worked with individuals ranging in age from two to over one hundred. She has supported clients with various diagnoses including dementia/Alzheimer’s disease, Down syndrome, attention deficit disorders, autism, stroke, Parkinson’s disease, mental health diagnoses, learning and intellectual disabilities, and genetic disorders. Tatum serves clients in a variety of settings including in-home, teletherapy, and long term care facilities such as assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing.
In addition to being a board certified music therapist, Tatum is also certified in Using Music in Mental Health Recovery through Get In Tune Music Therapy. Tatum is also a member of the Wisconsin Chapter for Music Therapy and serves as the Events Chair for the chapter.
At Dynamic Music Therapy, we focus on a person-centered approach by meeting individuals where they are and encouraging them and those involved in their care to take an active role in their treatment. We believe in the importance of focusing on the whole person and understanding the impact of each individual’s surroundings, family systems, culture, and circumstances. With each client, we strive to approach every session with compassion and understanding to build rapport and create strong therapeutic relationships by adapting to meet their current needs.
