Board Certified Music Therapist - Independent Contractor, Virtual Music Therapist
Kiah is a board certified music therapist from Sioux Falls, South Dakota with a passion for using music to foster growth, healing and connection. With training from Augsburg University and Loyola University - New Orleans and clinical experiences in trauma, educational settings and older adults in a variety of settings, Kiah specializes in helping children gain the skills they need to function in their everyday lives. Kiah joined Dynamic Music Therapy to offer virtual services in August 2025 to support our mission to expand access to music therapy services across northwestern Wisconsin. She is excited to get to know children and families from Wisconsin and to use her creativity to foster connections in the growing technological world.
Kiah’s approach to treatment is trauma-informed, client-centered and evidence-based, incorporating techniques such as improvisation, songwriting, and much more. Whether through singing, composing, listening, playing instruments or engaging in music games, Kiah strives to create a safe and supportive environment where clients can express themselves and achieve their therapeutic goals.
In addition to her clinical work, Kiah completed the Neurologic Music Therapy training through the University of Toronto and earned her professional affiliate status through the Academy of Neurologic Music Therapy. She is 1 of 3 to hold this professional affiliation in the state of South Dakota. This training provided Kiah with a deeper understanding of how music effects brain processes and she integrates Neurologic Music Therapy techniques into all of her sessions. Kiah also serves as the secretary/treasurer for the South Dakota Music Therapy Association where she collaborates with colleagues and students to further the profession in South Dakota and beyond.
When not in the therapy space, Kiah enjoys playing on her home church's worship team, reading, cooking and baking, running, spending time outdoors with her husband Keith and snuggling with her cat Finnegan.
